ICELAND
Iceland – My First Bucket List Adventure
Fresh out of university and with my first real paycheck in hand, I set out to tick off a long-held dream: exploring Iceland. Coming from a family where we always had enough but not the luxury to travel far, I’d only experienced short city breaks — never the kind of journey where you get to fully immerse yourself in a place. This was my first real travel experience.
Organized by Vanlife Iceland — a project led by Asa and a few Icelandic creators — the trip introduced me to vanlife, to Iceland’s raw and awe-inspiring landscapes, and most importantly, to a group of like-minded, open-hearted people from around the world. We shared stories, sunsets, and late-night talks in the van, and many of those connections, especially from the US, are still part of my life today.
This experience not only reignited my passion for landscape photography — it also opened my world a little wider. It reminded me of the joy of discovery, of creative freedom, and of how far curiosity can take you when you finally give it space to roam.
